Sleeping

Our kids have always slept weird. All of the kids snore, they all move around a lot, Camden has walked in his sleep and they all have at least one stuffed animal to sleep with and a blanket. I finally just took the crib down and made Jacks sleep in a bed. So far he has done great. He usually won't leave his room until we come and get him. He will just get up and play with his toys until we get him. Having his toys in his room is nice, and also not nice. A few nights (and even naps) he has played with toys instead of going to sleep. The other night he got rid of his nice soft stuffed animal and traded them for 3 big cars. Oh well, I guess whatever puts him to sleep.
Emery can be a little dramatic. (Little may be an understatement, but she's a girl, what do you expect?) Tonight she was telling us that she can't sleep in her bed. Her bed hurts her back needs to sleep somewhere else. She is really just trying to get us to put her bed back with the boys, but that isn't going to happen. So to make her back feel better while she sleeps she chose to sleep in here. There are toys and costumes all over the bottom of this, and it is quite a bit shorter than her bed. Doesn't it look nice?
(We did move her back into her bed.)

Fair Time

This week was the fair. We contemplated whether or not we should go, and finally chose to go. I learned this year that the fair never changes. I'm pretty sure even the rides are the same from when I was a kid. The kids loved it, and that's what matters. They thought putting their faces here was really funny, well at least the boys did, Emery didn't want to.
 Poor Cam was too short.
I guess so was Beck, but it just looks like he has a uni-brow.

Feeding the animals was their favorite part. The older boys thought it was funny to see them eat so fast.
Jackson loved all of it. He likes all animal and couldn't get enough of feeding them or looking at all the different ones around the 4H parts.
Emery liked it but kept her distance.
You could even brush a cow. I think Jacks should have been raised on a farm.

All in all it was fun. We got out without having to go on any of the rides or do any of the game. Now that's over we can start school!

More Jacks

I'm pretty sure twins were easier than Jacks. That or I just blocked out all the boys did. Jackson was born to be loud and he hasn't stopped being loud or getting into everything. I have some Willow Tree figures next to the front door and he thinks they are there to play house with. He has the best imagination and was having a conversation between the people and the dragon. It was cute to watch, but not what I want him to play with.

The kids love to see Grandma Arrington at work. Working at a book store is fun for the kids. Jackson got two balloons, one to sit on and one to play the drums on. Maybe we have a musician on our hands.

Projects

I didn't take many pictures at the end of the week, but we did do things. The kids loved going the baking soda volcanoes, so we did them again. They each got a medicine dropper and vinegar to shoot at a sheet of baking soda. They were all amazed with the reaction it created.

Thursday we wrote letters to Great Grandma Arrington. Friday was our end of summer party. We took our bed out, played games, had treats and watched movies. The kids always love to sleep in the front room, it was a good way to start the end of summer. This is the last week before school starts. The boys can't wait and are really excited to go back.

Boys New Rooms

To go along with the dresser we did for the boys we also made them new quilts and then painted their walls. It's a little like "If You Give  Mouse a Cookie" for us, only it was "If You Change One Thing in a Room" then it goes on and on.  Camden wanted a Muscle Man blanket. All the character are from a show called "Regular Show." It's also where Jackson learned to say 'see you later Grandma.'
Beckham wanted a Benson blanket. We just bought cheap sheets and then sewed pieces onto an old quilt we weren't using any more. My sewing machine died in the process. Usually after one project I vow to never sew again... it was no different with this one. (Give me a year and I'll do something else)
On their walls we painted Rigby on one,
and Mordecai on the other. Painting 3 walls in the room blue made it so much brighter in there. The kids love it and that's what matters.

Cook Camden

The boys ask every once in a while to help cook. I have never really liked getting help when cooking (ask my mom, I know I frustrated her because I didn't want help). It must be a good day, I let Camden cook lunch, I did help a little. It was fun teaching him how to read the recipe and measure and all that goes into it. He made pancakes.

Not sure I like them near the hot pans, but they have to learn sometime. The only problem was the first one he put down was right on the edge, but it got better.
He liked flipping them and did better than I thought he would.

Everyone enjoyed them and they tasted great. We give Cam and A+ on his first time cooking.

Mr. Funny

Jacks loves to make people laugh. Lately he had been doing all he can to do this. He tells Knock Knock jokes and repeats things off of shows. He also is into telling stories. We usually can only understand a few words, but they are fun to listen to anyways.

Weird Start to the Week

I'm ready to have a boring, normal day. Monday morning about 3:30 am (yes AM) the door bell rang. The unwritten rule is that's Brad's job to see what it is. It rang a few times, so Brad thought either it was something real or he was going to get ticked with some lame kids. It was the police. They caught some kids breaking into cars on our street and wanted us to make sure that no one had broke into the blue van that's in the drive way. Nothing was taken. Even though it was nothing it still took forever to fall back asleep. Then today I took the kids to get a movie and pizza, Brad is golfing, so we decided on a movie night. I was at Little Caesars, parked the car and got out. I was about to open the side door to get the kids when a work truck started to back up. He kept going and going and hit the car. Not hard, he didn't even notice it until I yelled and waved my arms. Good thing I was out because who knows how long it would have taken him to stop, and even more of a good thing is none of the kids were out of the car. The guy felt horrible and he gave me his info. Again, even though it wasn't a big deal I was shaking for a little bit after. To make it even better, I put his info in my pocket and we got the pizza. When I got home it was gone. Thankfully it was at Little Caesars. I am staying home tomorrow and not going anywhere, in hopes that nothing else happens.

I Love to See the Temple

For FHE I had the idea of going to the temple grounds and walking around with the kids and taking pictures.... too bad the grounds are closed Monday's. I knew the temple was, just not the gates. So the kids got to see it from the gates, and we still got a few pictures.

For our project today we decorated frames so we could put their temple pictures in them and they could put them in their rooms.

Two Front Teeth

Beck has now lost his two front teeth. Brad pulled the second one out the other night.
He was left with a huge hole! The other tooth is already almost in now, so it doesn't look as big anymore.
We are possibly the worst at the whole tooth fairy thing. We forgot again with this tooth. Thankfully Beck is easy going and didn't seem to mind. All I had were quarters, so we have him 8 quarters. He was so excited that he got that over $2.
While we were at Bear Lake I took a cool picture of Camden. It did have a sand toy in the picture but Brad photo shopped it out. I think it looks pretty cool.

Hunter Cam

Camden came out of his room today. He said he was dressed like a demon hunter. He's a pretty mean demon hunter. They play a game on the computer and one of the characters you can be is a demon hunter.

Barnes Reunion '13

This year we went to Bear Lake for the Barnes reunion. We all had a lot of fun and the kids already can't wait for next year. It is a beautiful lake to go to.
One "tradition" that Brad had when we go to Bear Lake is to eat a Merlinator. It's a 1 lb hamburger. Not sure what is the joy of eating it. This is his picture from 2007 ish when he first ate it.
The tasty food...
And the prize, the sicker. We put it on Jacks car.
Brad put together a game for the family to play. It was a spin-off on the game Double Dare. Everyone liked it. Camden had to mix a cake type mixture that his team put together.
He thought it was pretty cool.
The last part of the game was an egg eating contest. They had Brad join in, his face says it all.
The kids loved the lake the best. It was warmer water and great sand.

Jacks didn't want to leave the boat. It was just sitting on the beach and couldn't go anywhere.
Emery met a new friend. They played well together.

I love that now the three older can just go and play with their cousins and don't have to sit next to us the whole time. Jackson was Mr. Funny all week. It was a good trip and we can't wait for next year.
