Emery's 8!

The week Emersyn turned 8 years old! She still seems too tiny to be that old, but she is very happy to be 8. This year she had her first friends party and it was a lot of fun. She wanted a monster party... yes that's my girl, monsters not princesses. For a cake she wanted dirt cake, so to blow out candles we put them in a muffin.
We noticed one day that she had cards in her hands and when we looked at them they were invites that she made. We had yet to decide when we were doing her party, so she shouldn't have had any. When we read them one of the parts said that they can bring her 1,2 or 3 presents.... I'm so glad we caught them. Even without that she still did get gifts.
 Her monster dirt cake.
They had to reach their hands into a monsters mouth to find a prize. Most of them weren't too excited to do it at first, but loved it later on

The monster
They also made body part kabobs.

And had smoking monster blood.
They also made a grab bag with cut out pieces and made them look like monsters.
It isn't a party without a little bit of Just Dance. They were fun to watch. They all sang along with the music too.

I think it's about time for me to get used to a girly girl. Emery loves all things girls, but thanks to having 3 brothers she likes things like monsters and other 'boy' things. Jacks is her best friend and they love playing together every day. They play babies and super heroes. Emery loves going to our neighbors house and playing with their kids. She is so outgoing and will say hi to anyone she knows. She still gets everything she wants from her dad, but I don't think that will ever change. Emery loves to read and does really well with it. I'm amazed all the time with how well she does. She knows what she likes. It is impossible for anyone to pick and outfit out that she likes. I have to take her with me anytime I get her clothes because if I don't she wont like them. She's 8 going on 16.... which is going to make the next few years lots of fun. Emery is so excited to be baptized this year. She had fun picking out her scriptures and case. Her teacher at church is great, which makes her so excited to go each week. She loves to give hugs and snuggle and is always there when I need one. She is such a kind spirit.  Her favorite food is pizza. Her favorite subject is painting (they have something called 5th block where they do art projects). Her favorite game or toy is playing tug of war with the puppies.

Last Time at Lagoon

This weekend we went to Lagoon for the last time as a family this season. It's been a fun summer having passes, but we are definitely done with Lagoon.
It was Frightmares time at Lagoon and the kids loved that. They had things for young kids where they got candy early in the day. All of the kids enjoyed this and got a few pieces of candy and prizes.
There are fun picture sites all over the park too.

Along with rides the kids played a few games and won. Emery won this doing the ring toss, which is a near impossible game. I still don't get how she did it.

We were all dead by the end of the trip.
This time is a fun time to go to Lagoon. It's very different but fun. The boys went on a 3 spider haunted house (a rating they give each one, 1-5 with the more spiders being the more scary ones) with me and it wasn't scary really at all. One guy jumped out and it scared me more than the boys. Since we have Emery and Jacks, who won't go in the houses, Brad took them on the next one, which was a 4 spider and a little more scary. Brad said they were fine until a guy with a chainsaw acted like he was going to cut their legs off. Then they were freaked out the rest of the time. After that they were done and didn't want anymore haunted houses. Until next year, we are done with Lagoon and traveling.

We Did it Again...

Well we did it again, we got dogs, and yes dogs with an S. I have a friend at work whose dog had puppies and we took two of them. They are chihuahuas and so far haven't been too bad. I think having the two helps with nights, with sleeping well, and not getting lonely. They also wear each other out by playing with each other. The black one is Luna and he brown one is Eevee.
They like faces, hair and ears.

We are probably not so smart for getting them, but the kids love them so I guess that's what matters.

Past Week

For Labor Day we went for a walk with the kids. Camden is doing a family merit badge for scouts so he planned the day. We got Subway for lunch and went hiking. The kids saw a lot of lizards sunning on rocks. Emery and Jacks wanted to swim, but it was way too cold in that water to do so.

Beckham had another game today and did really well. He was excited because he was one of the captains for the beginning of the game.
I'm always amazed how Jacks can fall asleep anywhere. This was after the fair.
The past two special nights were Beck's then Camden's. Both boys chose to go on a hike to do Pokemon Go. This game maybe a little weird but the kids love it and it gets them walking. It's been a nice break from going to movies and gives us more time to just talk with them.

Fair Time

During the summer the boys have been helping Grandpa Barnes with the garden and doing other yard work. They had a lot of fun and with their work they were able to enter produce into the fair.
The all put in a giant pumpkins. Beckham's was 99 lbs and Camden's was 78 lbs.
Beck won first prize for that.
Camden won first for his cherry tomatoes...
And Beck won 2nd.
Camden won 2nd in green beans.
The 2 white pumpkins are Camden's and he won 3rd in those.
Beckham also did a squash and won 1st for it.
It was a good experience for them and they had a lot of fun with it. Next year I think they'll want to do it again.

Football

This year Beckham signed up for football and so far it's been an experience. The first week was conditioning, so lots and lots of running, which he hated but actually had a really good attitude about it and never complained. Week 2 was conditioning with pads, again he didn't like it much but all he would say is it was better than the day before. We told him to hang on until the game and it will be worth it. He made it to the first game and had a lot of fun. He still needs to work on being aggressive and tackling but he's doing really well. We love his coaches. They have been doing this Jr. league for a few year together, so it's nice they get how to do it. Beck in the games is #86, he needs socks so I can find him easy on the field.

His coaches made them practice jerseys which are really sweet. Their team is the Cardinals and this is something he can have for a long time to remember his first football season. He is excited for the other games to come and to actually play; the practices are finally getting to be worth it.

I Love My Kids....

Jacks is loving school. He is excited every day when he comes home and tells us what he learns. He has to show us every day  the papers he does. It's fun to see him learn and grow.
Kids can be so much fun but I don't get what goes through their heads at times. The other day the Emery and Jacks took a marker outside and Brad told them to only write on paper but.... with other friends there and not thinking the kids took permanent markers outside and drew on the patio and not paper.
We made them scrub it when we found out. It didn't do much but it was a small punishment.
Not much came off, but it will fade over time, or hopefully it will. Ahhh you have to love you kids.
