This Week

This past weekend the boys had their first campout as Boy Scouts. The were pretty excited to go and to get all of the things you need to camp. They went to Nat Soo Pah, so not far away but they had a good time. Apparently the tent they were given was an inflatable one and deflated a little in the night. Cam woke up with tent on his face. It made them a little more excited for Camp Bradley in a few weeks.
This week we made floam for a project. It eventually worked out, but took a while and is still a little mess. I got these foam balls to do something at Christmas time but forgot I had them and never did that project, so we used them in this. Floam is just slime with Styrofoam in it. You see all the balls? Those still fall out when they play with it. I think we put too much in during the mixing phase. I thought it would make it less sticky but it didn't.

Out of all of the kids, Camden and Beckham played with it the most.
Today we made book marks. One goal this summer is to teach the kids how to do a few new skills and one of those is to hand sew. They had to sew on a button and sew the elastic on also. They aren't perfect but the kids had fun with them and liked how they turned out. Camden's book shows you what it supposed to look like.

Fun Weekend

We got an old fire pit from my parents and finally put it to good use. The boys invited some friends over to burn school papers and eat smores. The kids put way too many papers in at first which made it hard to start. We had it going then Camden threw a bunch more on top smothering it and putting it out. Brad got it going again and I think the kids had fun with it.

Sunday we went to Shoshone Falls and it was beautiful out. The falls were running pretty full and the weather was perfect. The kids and the dogs walked a lot but had fun.

Both dogs pull all the time and get really tired really fast. There were so many new people and smells and other animals and places to see which made them way too excited.

Jacks wanted to be like a dog and let the wind hit his face on the way home.
We went home and set up the pool and filled up water balloons. Bunch 'o Balloons is the best invention ever for summer. That is what the pool is full of.

Monday we got a fun surprise, Luna caught 2 ticks. The kids saw them on her and I had Brad come home a little early to help get them off. One fell off on its own and we caught it and killed it. The other we had to take out. They are really small but really creepy. I kept feeling like something was crawling on me the rest of the say. I guess we need to get tick meds if we are going to take the dogs out again.

Jackson is 7

This week Jackson turned 7 years old! We have been trying to get pictures off our hard drive and so we have been looking at a lot of old baby pictures and videos. It is so bitter sweet to see how big they all have gotten. He was (and still is) such a funny baby. He has always tried to make people laugh, even at a young age. This year we had a party for him, but we kind of sucked at getting it ready. We forgot to do invites until the last day of school, which is crazy as it is, let alone a kid remembering to take home an invite. So he had 1 friend show up, but he loved it anyways. Because we didn't hear from that friend until the day before the party we also weren't prepared with games, so to Pinterest we went. We came up with a sort of Hulk Smash game. They had to throw a ball and hit the bad guys on the bowl to win the prize inside. I think all of the kids had fun with it. They were decent shots.

Then the boys hid a few of their pops outside and they had to be Spiderman and get them with their silly string. I should have gotten more cans of string, they loved this.

For some reason he picked out a USA cake. We'll just go with the idea it was for Captain America. Camden wanted to light the candles but could only get about half of them lit.

Holding your breath the whole happy birthday song isn't easy.

And he can not blow out candles without spitting.
Jackson is the perfect last child. He is super sweet and still loved to be held from time to time, although its getting less and less. He is also a huge ball of energy, so much that he makes you wonder how you could take care of him and another child. Jackson is a great student. We were worried he would have too much energy and be loud at school, but his teachers love him and say he is perfect and quiet. He likes to be funny and make people laugh. He is always making up stories and comic books. A few months ago he asked Brad if he could take them to school to sell them. We didn't let him do that. He and Camden fight the most and play the best. Jackson just wants Camden to approve of all that he does, but Cam doesn't see that and usually ends up hurting Jacks feelings. He loves scary things now. It's more a love/hate but he tires. He still doesn't like too many scary movies but he likes things like Freddy Kruger, Jason and Five Nights at Freddy's. The last book he was readying was a Freddy book. He HATED spiders for the longest time. Even if you showed him a picture of one he would freak out and run away. Then one day he asked us to print some off so he could color them. I thought it was weird but was glad him few was going away. Then I go to parent teacher conference and find out that he and another boy were putting spider pictures on their teachers desk and seat. She was fine with the prank and thought it was funny, I was little embarrassed. We were getting the boys a piano book to work on during the summer and Jackson saw a Mario book. He now asks all the time if he can play. I'm not sure he's ready to learn and/or I'm ready to teach him just yet. But at least he is more excited than Emery was. He is really good at math. When he does him homework I'll ask him the problem and he can always say the answer but hates having to write down how he got it. He says that just the answer and he just knows it is. He gets offended easy if he thinks someone thinks or says he not doing it right. Camden is the biggest one to do this. Jackson will have a fact in his head or say something and Camden will say the opposite. If Camden pushes, which he usually does, it usually leads to Jacks getting upset. He's still all boys and loves every thing boy related but has turned a new leaf with liking pink. We all laugh at this because he got a Mr. Messy shirt for Christmas when he was 3 and thought it was Emery's and refused to even touch it. Still to this day he doesn't believe us that it was really meant for him. He still refused to ride a bike, maybe we'll have to send him to Grandma Arrington so she can teach him, he won't learn for us. I think he is obsessed with the number 6. When he is joking around saying how long something is or how much time or how many there are it always has 6, like 6 hours, 6 millions shirts, 16 thousand minutes. It's weird but it is almost always 6.  Jackson's favorite subject is free time. His favorite food is chicken nuggets and his favorite game or toy are Funko pops and Super Mario Brothers.

Summer Start

Just before school ended Emery was in a play at school called "Dig It". They practiced every day after school for a month and then put it on. It was actually really cute and the kids did a good job. Emery had one line. I'm pretty sure one of the big reasons she did it was because after the boys play we gave them a candy bouquet, and she wanted on as well. She also loved that she got to wear a lot of makeup for the play.

Summer break has officially started and it's been fun... and by fun I mean a learning curve for the kids to figure out things to do, which isn't fun. The kids all loved the reading BINGO we did last year, so we are doing it again. Sunday Cam and Beck spent the day working on it and no games (which is one of the squares). I like how much it gets the kids reading and finding new books, and it gives them something to do.
