Emery Dancing

I'm not sure where she gets her moves from but I can say it's not me.

Boys Cologne

The other day Beck was asking about what Brad uses to smell good. I told him cologne and asked if he wanted some. I was a little surprised that he said yes. There was no way I was getting him Axe or spending $60+ on some for him, so we went to the mall and got some at Rue 21. Camden has to join the bandwagon and get some too. I'm not sure Cam can actually smell his but they both do smell nice. It's good we got it now so we can help them figure out the right amount to put on so they don't over spray.

Spring Break.... So Far

It seems to early and cold, but it is Spring Break this week. We have tried to plan a few activities throughout to keep the kids happy.
One day we played games. We got the original Cranium and also got some candy and played poker games.  The kids thought betting the candy was fun, although in the end we just shared the candy.

Another day we painted canvases. Brad and I cleaned and moved around our room and found old canvas, so we let the kids paint them. Beck finished one that Brad started, a Hunter from the game "Destiny", Cam painted over an old picture we had in our room and Emery and Jacks made their own.

We got egged... aka someone left a note and candy at our door and told us to egg three other people. The kids loved the idea so last night Brad and the kids made cookies and tonight we delivered them. The boys weren't too sneaky. This is our niece and lucky she didn't come out or they would have been caught.
Jacks was on FHE this week and we thought it was time for some fun so he took us all bowling. He loved being in charge. I made him keep it a secret until today and when I said he could finally tell them he went into the front room and said "come close I have something great to tell you."

The week is only half over and thankfully we have a few more things planned with the kids.

Catching Up

I worked all last week, so I am finally going to catch up on what has been happening at our house.
The boys went through their shirts a few weeks ago. There were a few that Camden had that Jackson wanted so he took them. Our 11 year old gave shirts to our 6 year old and they fit. Not sure if that means Cam is really small or Jacks is tall. Jackson loved the new shirts though.
We watched our niece's daughter the other day. Emery and Jacks loved it (we did too). They both wanted to hold her and she is at the age where they just like to stand. I had a hold of her backs because neither of them held on to her that tight. She is a very happy baby and I think was a little amazed by the kids.

Emery and Jacks also took turns reading to Hayden.
We had FHE at Grandma and Grandpa Barnes house the other week and it was about being nice and how you can't take back mean things once they are said. Our niece did an object lesson with it that the kids loved. You had to get all of the toothpaste out of a tube then put it back it. They all tried hard but didn't' get it in.

The other day all of the boys were at friends houses and Emery was home alone. I'm not sure she really did mind because she fell asleep on the chair pretty fast. I know Eevee loved it.
We played Quelf the board game the other day. Since Brad and Jacks answered a question wrong they had to let Emery and me put makeup on them. Don't they look pretty.

This is a note we found on the fridge. "love one another love everyone the same and never hate or tease 1 certain person love them the same" by Emery. Good words to live by.
Emery was student of the week. I found out later that the kids are chosen by a class vote and she was the one chosen this week. She gets to have lunch with the principal some time after spring break too.

Music Man

The boys did another play this semester and this past weekend they performed it. Other than a few mic issues they did such a good job. Beck said he had a little speaking part when in fact he had one of the biggest parts on this train scene. If I'd known that I would have recorded him. He did a good job. The parts was a sing/talk in rhythm and he stayed in time. It made his piano mom very happy. He is still a little stiff at times, but considering his one line last play, he did amazing. I think he'll keep doing the plays each year.
He was also a constable and had a decent amount of lines there too.
Cam wanted to do the play because they needed dancers, so he was in most of the dance numbers. He had a few lines, although his last one his mic wasn't on and we couldn't hear. He was a young boy and totally looked the part.
I knew he had a piano part, he played while they sang a small song, but it was right after curtains moved and so I wasn't prepared to record it. He did a good job there and loves to show off his piano skills.

The band outfits were from the High School. The pants they had were almost as tall as he was, so he had to bring his own. The jacket was huge on him too.

Instead of flowers we made them candy bouquets. They were a hit.
So much talent in two little boys. We are so proud of all the things they are going for in school.

Math

We have a set of very smart twins. They both love math and tried out for mathcounts aka mathletes. I may or may not have instantly though of "Mean Girls" but I think they'll be just fine. They went last week and it lasted a long time. Their school placed 3rd, but it is just the first year of this competition in town. They got a rule and spinner for participating though. They had fun and want to keep doing it.

The clip...

Emery Dacne

Each year the kids PE teacher has the kids learn dances and then the 2-5th grades perform them for their parents. This happened to be at the same school and time as the boys play, so it was busy, but the kids did a good job. This year it was only Emery and she seemed to have a lot of fun. They do the same moves for the whole song, it can get long, but its funny to watch some of the kids really get into it.

E and J Happenings

Brad took Jacks upstairs to watch a movie because he didn't want to watch what the boys were watching downstairs. Emery had Brad's phone and took this pic. They didn't make it through much of the movie. Side note... Jackson got a camo shirt from a neighbor, then he needed new pants and he picked camo ones out and now thinks they match. I can't get him to see that it really doesn't, so its his weekend outfit.
Dr Seuss week at school was a lot of fun for the kids and they had a character dress up day. Emery is a Sneetch and Jacks is Fox in Socks.

One of the coupons the kids got in the treasure box was to pick and make dinner with us. Jacks didn't want to make dinner he wanted to make a cake. We made an Oreo poke cake. He didn't understand why he and to poke holes in the cake, but once it was done he loved it. We had extra pudding so we made the kids favorite dessert, pudding pie. They all go nuts for it.
