Camden's FHE

We may be a little late in this, but we are finally having the kids teach FHE. It's just been either Brad or I, but the boys especially are old enough. This week was Camden's first one. He chose the topic of Thomas S. Monson. Brad did help him a little, but Camden presented it. They already are doing better than I did growing up, all of mine, and I mean all, were drawing your favorite temple.  Camden did a great job.

Beckham's Score

Each week the kids are tested in reading to see how they are doing. Both boys have been doing well this year. Camden was always top of the class. Beckham was usually above where he needed to be, but he wanted to be where Camden was. He has worked hard all year and on Friday came home really excited. He got 106 words a min. By the end of the year they should be at 53 words, so he doubled that. He had to show it off. Camden got 106 the week before and 96 this past week. We have two good readers and very smart boys.

Bike

My brother Paul gave us one of their bikes they weren't using anymore. It was perfect because Beck really needed a new one. Now we get the joy of trying to teach him to ride without training wheels. We have no idea how to teach a kid to ride, so it was an interesting first try. Beck thought he'd be able to just get on  and ride right away, he figured out fast it would take awhile.

Yard Work

For two people who really don't like yard work, we picked the wrong house to move into. The yard started off hard and hasn't given up in the almost 4 years we've lived here. We have a few patches of grass that will not grow, so we had the wonderful idea of tearing them out and trying again. Ugh so much work, but when/if it works, it will look a lot better. We have 3 sections total that were doing, but this is the biggest one. There is one in the front by the fence and another in the back. Digging out the dirt wasn't hard since most of it was already dead.
We got a load of topsoil and filled the holes in.
Now we wait for the seeds to start growing. We already had some dog and some human walk through the spot by the fence. That doesn't help our cause. Here's to hoping it looks better... soon.

Boys

Is it any wonder Camden broke his arm? One of the times he even reached over to get on the small hanging bar next to them.

Emery Vs the Entertainment Center

Yesterday at quiet time Emery was playing around on the banana chairs we have. She usually does this even though I have told her to just sit. Not sure how she really did it, but she had her arms through the handle on the back of the chair and pushed forward and smacking into the entertainment center. It would loud. I fully expected blood when I went and got her. She had an instant bruise on her head, a fat lip and a red nose. Emery wasn't happy for a while after this. Thanks to Camden's arm breaking the kids think they break theirs all the time and this was the perfect time for Emery. She had me worried for a while that something was up with her arm but after ice on it for a while and when Brad got home, it was all better. Why can't kids just sit in a bubble and never get hurt? We are tired of Doctor bills, thankfully there wasn't one here.

Pillowcase Sleeping Bag

One of my pet peeves, and I'm not sure why it annoys me so much, is when the kids take the pillowcases off of their pillows. They'll usually end up on the floor or fill with toys. The boys have gotten better with not doing it, but Emery is still bad. The other night she decided it would serve as a better blanket than a pillow case. Good thing kids look so cute when they sleep.

Easter Party

We had our Easter Celebration a few weeks late. The kids didn't care, they had fun not matter when it is. This was Jackson first egg hunt, so it took a little for him to figure it out, but once he did he didn't want to stop.

Most years we have a ton of kids for the hunt and there are lots and lots of eggs. This year there were only 9 kids for the hunt. It was a little weird not having all of the kids we usually have.
The egg hunt was made even better when Jacks figured out there was candy in the eggs. That made his day.

Jacks Singing

Jackson has discovered music and he loves one song right now. The song is "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark." by Fall Out Boy. Anytime we get into the car the only thing he will say is "Song, song" over and over again. He has started to sing along with it and it's funny to hear him try and make the words out. It took forever to get even part of him singing on camera. After I put the camera away he wouldn't stop singing the song.

Beckham's Special Night

Friday was Beck's special night. He had been looking forward to it for a long time and was so excited it was finally time. He loves Subway and that is where he chose to go for dinner. He thought it was really tasty.
Next he wanted Lazer Mania again. This time we did golf. He really should have just got more tokens because we did the golf in like 5 min for all 10 holes.
Beck did really well at the games. Well I guess it was more like he had good luck because he got a lot of tickets. There were mustaches as a prize and he got two of them. He also got Emery some sweet glasses. Beck said this was his favorite one so far. It's fun seeing the kids get so excited for these nights and how special it really makes them feel. Next is Emery's turn and her's comes on a good month. May is all 4 boys birthday's in our house and she tends to feel a little left out normally.

Another Day Off

The boys have the next two days off of school. I was out of project ideas, but they were bored and wanted something to do, so I put them to work. They had to pick weeds for money. They got money based on what they picked. Emery's first bag was full of dirt clods. Beckham needed $3 for a toy he was saving for, so he really got into it. I told them Beck got $3.50, Cam $2.50 and Emery $2. Beckham is such a sweet kid and always watches out for Camden so he told Cam that he only needed $3 and he'd give Camden his extra $0.50 so they both had the same amount. Camden was really excited.
We went shopping later to look at what they wanted to get. Emery got things from the dollar section at Target and Beck got his toy he was saving for. Camden didn't have enough for his toy yet, so he is still saving.
Kids do some weird things and thanks to the nice weather, they are able to go outside. I came outside and saw Camden like this. I am guessing he will break another bone before he is a teenager.

The Rod

We had Camden's post op appointment and they had his rod at their office. I knew it would be small but I was surprised how small it really was. Camden was impressed with it and had to take it to school to show everyone.

Bubbles

Who needs toys when you have a jetted tub and soap. The kids love to fill the tub up and have tons of bubbles. The only problem is to turn the jets on the water has to be pretty high, that's why Jacks is standing and I'm sure Emery is sitting on her legs. This kept them busy for about 30 to 45 min.

Golf

Thanks to the beautiful weather Brad has had the golfing bug a lot lately  The kids want to do everything we do and so it's only natural the kids have an interest in golfing. Beck really has show a lot of drive for it and practiced outside with Brad for a little while the other day. It may be time to take him to hit a bucket of balls. He asked to have his picture taken and this was how he wanted to pose.

Clothes

This is just a random post, but all spring break Camden wore almost the same type of outfit each day. It was shorts, shirt and long socks. I'm not sure why he started to wear long socks with shorts but he loves how it looks. I guess some point in time kids have to get their own sense of style. Beck doesn't really care what he wears. Whatever shirt is on the top in his drawer he'll wear.
