We started to plan a trip to Texas a while ago and it finally is here.
Before we went, Emery and I got out nails done. I am not sure I love the fake nails, but it was fun to try out for a bit.
Luna however loved them. She just wanted to be scratched.
We left Friday afternoon about 1pm. We had a stop in Denver with a layover about four hours.
The layover was a bit longer than expected. We were actually worried about being able to get the rental car. Dallas looks nice at 12 am, doesn't it?
The second we stepped off the flight the humidity hit. Thankfully it only lasted 2 day. We waited about 30 minutes for the shuttle to get the car.
Waiting for the car. A few bugs kept crawling around. You can see Jackson looking down. He did not like the bugs.
This was what the bugs were. Finally I told him to wait with Brad.
We checked in online to the room, keys were on an app, and at 130 am, them not working it what we wanted. We went to sleep and woke up about 730 am to make it to our first activity.
My best friend Lea lives in Texas, which is one big reason we went there. Preston had a football game and we went to watch it. They kicked butt.
Next was a big mall. We were there a few hours looking in different stores. When Lea lived closer our kids were good friends. I loved that it was like no time had passed and they were friends right back again.
After lunch we went back to their house to relax for a bit and let the kids play. The boys played soccer with hand and the girls drew.
That night, Lea and I had a girls night and the rest my family went to Medieval Times. They had a lot of fun, although their guy did not win.
Lea and I went downtown to look at shops, eat and listen to music. We took an Uber so we didn't have to fine parking. The guy was super nice but gave us a lot of gum. It was good gun and one or two pieces was plenty. He gave us a whole box.
The music and food was so fun to do. One lady had a bit to drink and danced the whole time and eventually went on stage.
Downtown Grapevine, or a little of it. The outside area was so cold this high up, we didn't last long out there.
The next day we went to Bucee's. It's a big gas station with a lot of good candy, food and things to buy. I thought maybe I talked it up, but everyone liked it.
The rest of that day we were at Six Flags. It was over cast and really perfect weather. Only towards the end did it get hot.
The first ride of the day. It was a fun one, although at the end, Camden lost 2 quarters.
Emery and Brad do not like ride that spin, or go super fast, so the skipped the first few.
This was the Riddler. Jackson was really nervous to do it and almost got off but decided to stay. he grabbed my hand as it started and then it got going. He let go as it got higher and at one point yelled, 'this was not a mistake!' After that it was any and every ride he could.
Camden did the Dead Man Hang. He had to hang there for 2 minutes. He couldn't move much at all. I kept all the pictures to show how little it seemed to mess with him.
This is what he won and it made it home.
Our last ride for the day was one for the books. Just before we got to where you get off the ride, it shut down. Something malfunctioned and we could not move. It ended up only being about 20 minutes so it wasn't that bad. I will pass being stuck on a ride again though.
That night it was a double date for the adults. We had appetizers and played games then went and ate a meal. Its fun to hang out with other adults now and again. They kids stayed at Lea's house.
The next day we went to BBQ for lunch. It was probably the best restaurant we went to, but mainly I loved how it was swerved.
That night was Great Wolf Lodge. It was lot of fun, more for the younger kids, but the boys still liked it a lot.
Can't stop in a town that has In 'N Out and not eat it at least once. Every one was waiting for this meal and it was so good.
The last day we did Top Golf before we took the rental car back. At first everyone loved it. We played an Angry Birds game. Jackson got really frustrated on one of his turns and couldn't calm down. We had him take a little break and in true amazing mom fashion, I hit a full glass of water that spilled on him. Thankfully later in the day went much much better for him. Other than Jackson, we are excited to get one here in town.
We met up with Lea and her kids one more time to say goodbye. I hate living so far away from someone I care about and each time leaving it is hard. It was so much harder this time then normal with the kids being sad too.
We went to the last hotel early and went to bed semi early since out flight was at 630 am. We ordered pizza for dinner and it had an interesting name. We used to call Camden Cam Peezy, which is what this place was called.
We just had to have one more excitement before leaving. The hotel we picked we did because they could take us to the airport in the morning, and we went a time up at 430 am. At 4 the desk called and said they don't have a driver so they would order a Lyft. The first Lyft driver was 10 minutes away and canceled. The second said 31 minutes, which wouldn't work for our flight. So Brad just got an Uber that actually came quick and took us all. We made our flight just fine and now are home relaxing. Normal life tomorrow, but the vacation was so much fun, I wish we were still there. Can't wait for our next family trip, where ever that may be.
