This day we went to Giants Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede bridge. I was very nervous about the bridge and you will see why.
First stop was the Dark Hedges. They are shown on Game of Thrones- the road to Kings Landing. It was beautiful to see. The trees were planted James Stuart for his wife in 1775 to lead up to their house. They became famous for the look and is a popular place to stop. The trees have taken a tole due to this, however they have replated some of the trees to keep them going strong.
The house these lead to.
Giants Causeway was so cool. The stepping stone rocks were fun to climb on and just to sit and watch the waves.
This set they call the organ, you can see why.
We had a little time before our time at Carrick-a-Rede bridge so we stopped by Dunluce castle nearby, however you had to pay to go in, so we just got a 99. Mine was dipped in Oreos and so good.
Carrick-a-rede bridge was put up in 1775 (big year for this area) to help salmon fishermen get to the other side of the island. The view before and after the bridge was worth the scary bridge. It was about a 15 minute walk to get to the bridge. and it sits 98 feet above the water. It used to only have one handrail, thankfully they have made it a little safer to cross.
Ignore the chins, I was very focused on no falling.
The other side and the walk back. Best part is you have to cross is twice. One to the other side and back. Second time was easier.
Had a good reason to be nervous, but I was glad I did it. Once you went down those stairs to start the bridge you didn't have a choice but to keep going across, there was no second guessing or stopping.
