New Post

It was 'clean out the pictures on my phone' time and these are the ones I meant to write about.
The other day Jacks was playing with play-doh. He wears pjs most of the day and while he was playing with it he got some on his leg. He didn't notice and went to bed. When he woke up the next day he saw it. He came to me and showed me and I told him it's ok, not to worry I'll get it off later. Well, we have a boy that comes over in the AM to wait for the bus with the boys and he thought it was a good idea to cut it off.... not a good idea.
Most nights Emery falls asleep in maybe 5 min. She's tired and falls asleep fast. She also sleeps horribly. We are always fixing her head before we go to sleep. I'm not sure how her neck doesn't hurt all the time.
Brad tired something new with the kids hair this last hair cut. Jackson loves his new style, he says it's Godzilla hair. For a few hours after he got the new cut he acted like he was Godzilla. Maybe it's not a good style if it makes him have more energy.

The Dog

It's no secret I didn't really like Hurley. Being home all the time I had to deal with him the most and it got old. The main problem was Beck LOVED the dog, so we dealt with him. Well we have decided to fix the house and yard up and sell the house. Every site I looked on for tips on how to prepare you house, getting pets gone was a big one. Another big one is a nice yard, but Hurley dug, so that was another problem. We also may need to live with family while we are in closing, and Hurley couldn't come with us there. We talked for a few weeks about re-homing him and we told the kids it may happen. I'm not sure they believed us. Well on Sunday I put him on Facebook and within a few hours he had someone who wanted to take him. Now came the worst/hardest thing I've had to do, tell the kids. I knew Beck would be sad so I wasn't wanting to do it, but they needed to be able to say goodbye. I started to tell them and Camden started to say all the pets we could get now. I have to say I was annoyed so I told him to stop talking and finished telling the kids that someone was going to come soon and get the dog. I looked at Beck and he broke down (and then I was started too). I let him know it wasn't his fault, that he was a good owner for the dog, we just don't have any other option right now. We told Beck he should take some pictures with Hurley and play with him. Doesn't his face just break your heart?

As I was with Beck in our room Emery came in crying. I was kind of surprised by that because she never really paid attention to the dog. Then Beck and I went outside to take pictures while he played and Camden came out. Due to his comments earlier I told him he may not care the dog is going but Beck does do try and be nice. He looked at me and said what and completely lost it. I felt so horrible and sad for him. I had no idea he cared and felt bad for saying what I did. Needless to say Sunday wasn't a fun day. The guy was supposed to come Sunday but didn't so Monday morning I told the boys to make sure they say goodbye in case he comes while they are at school. Good think I said that because he did. When the new owner got to the house Hurley instantly loved him. He was excited to  see him for some reason, but it made it easier that way. The guy has kids so Hurley will be happy there too. After I took the dog to his car and came back in I was so sad, sad for the kids. I hated this stupid dog. I couldn't wait for him to be gone and now I was crying over him going. Ugh so lame. That was one of the hardest things I've had to tell the kids, and it wasn't even anything overly important. They have been fine since he's been gone. Beck misses him but we keep them excited with the thought of a new house, which they all want.

Random

On Valentines Day (yep it's been a while) we went to Grandma and Grandpa Barnes house and decorated cookies. The kids love doing this, and eating them. This was one of Camden's. I love how the bears are kissing.
The boys went to the Harlem Glob Trotters with Brad and Grandpa Barnes. The boys loved it and had a ton of fun.

Beckham has worn the wrist bands pretty much every day since.
It's interesting the things you have to, or should or can teach your kids. The other day we had pizza and noticed Jacks was eating his weird. I'm not sure how this looked like the easy way to eat the pizza, but it was to him. I guess we need to teach him the "right" way to eat pizza.
Camden lost another tooth on Monday. While I was as work everyone went to Grandma and Grandpa Barnes house for FHE. We have given Camden a fear of getting teeth pulled so he really doesn't tell us when he has loose ones. We noticed on was sticking out really bad and needed to come out. Grandma offered to take it out but he wasn't having it. Uncle Josh then said he just wanted to see it and when Camden wasn't thinking anything Josh looked at it and flicked it out with his finger. At least it was quick and easy.
Beckham is the only one in the family who really likes the dog right now. He writes stuff in school about him all the time. Here is the last poem he wrote about him.

Hurley hurries, hurries, hurries
to me and he has curlys
Hurley, Hurley, Hurley I say
did you know you're from Burley

When I come home from school
Hurley comes in and doesn't act cool
When I get on a game
Hurley acts all lame.

When I get on my tablet
Hurley comes and sits like a rabbit
When I go out side
Hurley acts like he has a pride.

I love how much he loves the dog... but just don't like the dog. The sad thing is we may need to get rid of him and the only thing I'm sad about it how Beck will feel.

Projects

We are still redecorating our house. I wanted new art for the kitchen and our room, so in true Pinterest fashion we made them. The easy things I can do and don't mind. I think they turned out pretty well.

Ok so we need something different on the shelves, but the signs look good.
To match the grey better we painted an off white on the other three walls in our room, and did this painting. It was really easy and turned out nice. It ties the bed room and bathroom together well.

Emery's Night

We are finally back into them, special nights are back. January just came and went too fast so we started in February. Emery was first, this way her next one falls in May when all of the boys birthdays are. She loves to have Jackson come with her, and that makes it easier for us. Emery wanted to go to Hop 2it, eat at Buffalo Wild Wings  and get ice cream. It was a fun night and fun to spend the time with her.

On Saturday Jackson stared to have a soar throat. I'm not sure what it was but it seems to be cleared up for the most part now. A few band aids fell on the floor earlier in the day but I was doing something else at the time and didn't pick them up. When I went to get them they were gone. Jacks took them to put on his throat to make it feel batter. It must have had a placebo effect because he was fine while they were on there. As long as it made him feel better, it works for me.

Kids Writings

It's fun reading the things the kids write now that the older three are in school. It really can give you an insight into their mind.  The other day Emery wanted to wear leggings to school. I'm fine with that as long as the shirt is a longer one. Well she came out in a shirt that was too short for the leggings and I told her no and to change her shirt. She seemed fine with it and went off to play. Like 20 min later she was crying on her bed. She is a very suborn girl and wouldn't tell me what was wrong. I went and started doing other things and a few min later I saw her from the corner of my eye trying to slip me a note. Here is the note and in case you don't read kindergarten it says "I don't like mom." Someone please help me when she's an over dramatic teen. I asked if she really felt that way and that it's not very nice. (still at this point no knowing what was really wrong) I got up put the note on the counter, started to make them lunch and just ignored her. When I was about done with lunch she wrote another note that said I love mom. That one I couldn't find and this one we found stuffed in the couch. I finally found out it was the clothes situation that made her mad and we fixed it. Brad found another note late night that said I want dad, so apparently clothes is a breaking point for her and I have a feeling with be the cause of a lot of arguments later in life.
The boys did poems and research projects in school. Beck did his research on the polar bear. I loved his pictures and how all over the place his paragraphs are.

Out of all the kids Cam and I butt heads the most, but for some reason he still writes stuff about me and makes things for me the most. This is one of the poems he did at school.
Then his autobiography poem was a little... interesting. He said he was weak and small and normal a few times. It also says he wants a pet chupacabra, whatever that is.
Then I just love this. Camden wants to be a pianelist when he grows up. Brad tired to tell him it was called a pianist but he just thought that sounded funny.

Spelling and Teeth

Emery lost another tooth yesterday. It's been loose for a long time but she wouldn't let anyone touch it. Finally yesterday she agreed to let Brad try once to take it out and it came right out. It only hurt once she saw there was blood.
Since the boys know about the tooth fairy Cam said he needed to ask me something but it had to be alone. He asked if he and Beck could help give her the money for her tooth. I'm glad they are wanting to help a little bit, and the loved being the tooth fairy
The boys class had a spelling bee and they both did really well. Camden got 3rd place in his whole class. He was pretty excited he did so well. We have some smart boys.

Pinewood Derby

The boys had their first pinewood derby this week. Which meant we had to make 2 cars. Brad being Brad wanted them perfect and I'm sure the boys really didn't care. They both looked cool. Beck's is the red "sting" and Cam's is the blue "fang".

They were both excited for the races and we all had high hopes... until it started.... Beck's came in 3rd once and the rest of the times neither made it all the way to the finish line. They were really good sports about it and had fun anyways.

So what do you do with 2 cars that you put a lot of work into once the races are over? You make your own ramp and have fun races. The kids spent Saturday afternoon racing different cars and loves it.

Here are the first 2 races. The first one was just Cam, the second was Cam and Beck. Next year we'll do better... we hope.

Fun Kids

It's been a while since I wrote anything and while nothing big has happened a few small things have.
We told the boys before they went back to school about Santa. I very vividly remember my parents telling me about Santa. I was in bed and they came it and asked if I wanted to meet the real Santa. I remember thinking 'no this is a bad idea.' My dad left and said he'd get his and he came back. I was so shocked and confused. They were amazing with Santa. I sat up all night thinking of a million reasons they were wrong. Cam seemed to just take it for what it was. He of course said he knew, but that's Cam, Mr. Know-it-all. Beck was more like me. He said OK at first the but the new days asked different questions. One day after I brought out the Poweraid from our room we used for his magic potions. I told Beck this is his potion so if he wants he can fill it up. I think that crushed him the most. They seem good now and have been threatened with no Christmas if they tell the younger two,
Friday was dress like what you want to be. We went to the $1 store so they could get something cheap and then their minds changed Emery was a teacher, Beck an FBI agent, Cam a ninja. If their class had the most participation they get a popcorn party, so they were really excited to go to school dressed up.
Jacks is in a 'fun' phase. He keeps waking up at 530-6 am. No idea why so early, especially since on Christmas break he was sleeping till 830-9 am. So he's been really tired by lunch. I'm not a morning person at all so this better end and soon.
We got the car washed the other day. Jacks was cute because he was really scared but really didn't want to show it. Such a sad/cute face.
The imagination on Jacks is amazing. Everything is a toy. He was pretending to be something here. Not sure what, we couldn't understand him. He always has a sock or glove or box and likes to pack them with as many toys as he can. I have given up on getting his socks in pairs, but he doesn't care. I'm glad he was our last one, He can play alone so well and prefers it most of the time. He's in sunbeams now. That's right, all of our babies are out of nursery and in primary. They'll all be in the primary program. He's done well so far, other than one week. I teach the class two rows back from his class (Emery's class actually) and he didn't want to leave me alone. I'm the "mean mom" that will try and calm them a little but I make them go. The only problem with his class is there are 15 kids... yep 15 3 year olds. I finally took him out and talked to him and he calmed down and did great. I'm sure he'll have a few more meltdowns depending on how tired he is.

More Redecorating

Well I got bit by the redecorating bug again and this time wanted to revamp our bathrooms and laundry room. I think they turned out really nice. The kids bathroom needed color. I needed to repaint because Jacks can't aim and apparently the wall looks like the toilet.... So this has really helped with that. Not sure that white towels will be good in the end, but it looks good for pictures.
Brad made this shelf for me. He's getting used to me saying... so I have this idea....

I loved the idea of words the kids could look at each day. I think this is a perfect quote for kids.
The laundry room was more reorganizing than anything. I wanted to add red to tie into the front room and just make it look clean and not a dumping ground.
And of course something to read and remember as the leave the house.
I think I had the most fun in our bathroom. I was going to only add some new art but Brad said he wanted to change the color and so I ran with it. I love the grey and yellow. I was worried it would be too dark but the yellow accents are perfect.
The art in the bathroom, simple but perfect.

We are going to bring some of the yellow into our room, if and when I do that. The kitchen is next on my list though.
