Jacks Hair

Saturday I was gone for a little bit and Brad was busy with something. He heard the kids tell Jacks no and when he looked he saw Jacks with a handful of Vaseline and his hair covered. That stuff is really hard to get out. Brad gave him a bath and not much came out.
I read online that corn starch can help. Other than making him really blond, it didn't do much. Our last hope was dish soap before we just shaved his head. Thankfully the dish soap worked. In-fact his hair was  really soft and shiny once it was all out. Dang almost 2 year old.

Brad's Birthday Day

Today is Brad's B-day. I think the kids get more excited for our birthday's than we do. Friday we had cake and presents. Jacks and Emery helped make the cake... well more like they helped taste test the batter. Jacks approved.
Brad said he preferred cupcakes to a whole cake, so we made ice cream cone cupcakes.
Another joy of kids is they help you blow out your candles...
And open your presents  Brad just wanted golf stuff, so that's what he got. Now the boys are counting down till their birthday, 4 days!

Camden's FHE

We may be a little late in this, but we are finally having the kids teach FHE. It's just been either Brad or I, but the boys especially are old enough. This week was Camden's first one. He chose the topic of Thomas S. Monson. Brad did help him a little, but Camden presented it. They already are doing better than I did growing up, all of mine, and I mean all, were drawing your favorite temple.  Camden did a great job.

Beckham's Score

Each week the kids are tested in reading to see how they are doing. Both boys have been doing well this year. Camden was always top of the class. Beckham was usually above where he needed to be, but he wanted to be where Camden was. He has worked hard all year and on Friday came home really excited. He got 106 words a min. By the end of the year they should be at 53 words, so he doubled that. He had to show it off. Camden got 106 the week before and 96 this past week. We have two good readers and very smart boys.

Bike

My brother Paul gave us one of their bikes they weren't using anymore. It was perfect because Beck really needed a new one. Now we get the joy of trying to teach him to ride without training wheels. We have no idea how to teach a kid to ride, so it was an interesting first try. Beck thought he'd be able to just get on  and ride right away, he figured out fast it would take awhile.

Yard Work

For two people who really don't like yard work, we picked the wrong house to move into. The yard started off hard and hasn't given up in the almost 4 years we've lived here. We have a few patches of grass that will not grow, so we had the wonderful idea of tearing them out and trying again. Ugh so much work, but when/if it works, it will look a lot better. We have 3 sections total that were doing, but this is the biggest one. There is one in the front by the fence and another in the back. Digging out the dirt wasn't hard since most of it was already dead.
We got a load of topsoil and filled the holes in.
Now we wait for the seeds to start growing. We already had some dog and some human walk through the spot by the fence. That doesn't help our cause. Here's to hoping it looks better... soon.

Boys

Is it any wonder Camden broke his arm? One of the times he even reached over to get on the small hanging bar next to them.

Emery Vs the Entertainment Center

Yesterday at quiet time Emery was playing around on the banana chairs we have. She usually does this even though I have told her to just sit. Not sure how she really did it, but she had her arms through the handle on the back of the chair and pushed forward and smacking into the entertainment center. It would loud. I fully expected blood when I went and got her. She had an instant bruise on her head, a fat lip and a red nose. Emery wasn't happy for a while after this. Thanks to Camden's arm breaking the kids think they break theirs all the time and this was the perfect time for Emery. She had me worried for a while that something was up with her arm but after ice on it for a while and when Brad got home, it was all better. Why can't kids just sit in a bubble and never get hurt? We are tired of Doctor bills, thankfully there wasn't one here.

Pillowcase Sleeping Bag

One of my pet peeves, and I'm not sure why it annoys me so much, is when the kids take the pillowcases off of their pillows. They'll usually end up on the floor or fill with toys. The boys have gotten better with not doing it, but Emery is still bad. The other night she decided it would serve as a better blanket than a pillow case. Good thing kids look so cute when they sleep.

Easter Party

We had our Easter Celebration a few weeks late. The kids didn't care, they had fun not matter when it is. This was Jackson first egg hunt, so it took a little for him to figure it out, but once he did he didn't want to stop.

Most years we have a ton of kids for the hunt and there are lots and lots of eggs. This year there were only 9 kids for the hunt. It was a little weird not having all of the kids we usually have.
The egg hunt was made even better when Jacks figured out there was candy in the eggs. That made his day.
