Pirates... Again

Emery did the school play again this year. She tried out to be a dancer and made it. It is always fun watching young kids getting into activities like this. They all worked really hard and it turned out great. She is excited for next years play as well.

Her dance.

Boys End of Year

The school year is over now and just like every year, it has gone way too fast.
The boys had a final band concert. I wished I had recorded the last song that was played with all of the bands, but I didn't. It was really good.
The boys had an insect project due in school, which meant Brad helped them out a lot. They pretended to work on it the week before it was due, but it came down to the weekend and not much had been done. Brad loves projects like this, so he helped.
Beck made a fire ant.

Camden made a red paper wasp.

They both got a good grade on it and were happy with how it turned out.

Mother's Day

This past Sunday was Mother's Day and it was a very good one. The kids sang in sacrament and then after Emery, Jacks, Camden and I headed to Boise. Lea and her family were in town from Texas. We haven't seen them in about 3+ years. Our kids were pretty good friends when they were here and the kids have asked every now and again where they are and how they are. Lately, they have been writing letters back and forth. I didn't tell Emery and Jacks until we were on our way and they were really excited. We went to lunch and then a park. It was for about 3 hours we got to see them, which was not enough time for any of us, but it was totally worth the drive.  My kids were sad on the way home and so were hers. I really wish they lived closer, I miss my friend being near. I am going to visit in a few months. Emery was mad I wasn't letting her come with me, so I told her on her 12th birthday she could go and she has not forgotten about it.

All of the kids slept on the way home, which was a lot of help keeping me awake as well.
We drove home and headed right to Grandma and Grandpa Barnes house for dinner. Hayden is at such a fun age. She is really wanting to be part of the older kids fun. I love seeing all of them together. Emery is such a good little helper too. Camden is like Brad and he loves to help and be around kids. Again almost... allllmmmost makes me want a baby. (not anywhere enough to ever have one)

Brad and the kids made me this. It's all of the kids' hands together, I love it. It's a cute thing to have and remember when they are younger.
Jacks made this at school. Calm is not a word Brad would ever use to describe me and either Jacks doesn't know what it means or that's how he sees me, I hope the for latter. Apparently, he thinks I like jerky and well I do like my sleep.

Bikes

As I mentioned in the boys birthday post, they love to ride around town with their friends. They will be gone most of the day riding around, which does scare me a little, but also I'm glad they are getting out and being kids. Most of the time the like to pop hunt. They were out today and Grandma and Grandpa Arrington saw them while they were out.

Teenagers!

There is no way that 13 years ago we had twins. It is so cliche but it went way to fast. I remember almost everything about that day and now they are sarcastic smelly teen, but we still love them.
We had their party a week before their actual birthday. They had a Mortal Kombat party this year. They had a tournament while playing the game. Then the winner was the first one who got to pick what pop they wanted first. They all seemed to have fun with this.

They opened presents, and of course, got pops.

Then we did a pinata Mortal Kombat way. Brad made a few weapons and then we made a pinata head that they got to hit. The top broke off pretty quick, but they still liked bashing the head.

We took them out to lunch for their birthday again this year. There is always something so fun getting to leave school to go to lunch. This is what I get from 3 boys when I try to take a picture.

This has been an interesting year with Beckham. Last year he was shorter than me and in a year he has grown to be almost as tall as Brad. He is losing his baby/ little boys looks and now looks like a teenager. Most people think he is 15 or 16 already.  He is trying to figure out getting older and having more responsibilities and still being a kid. He is the one who asks for more responsibilities. Sometimes he will rise to the occasion and others not so much. Beck is always there to ask if he can help me with things. He likes to help with dinner especially but will ask to help when I'm cleaning the house.  He keeps asking me when he can do his own laundry, which is a good thing. I told him when we get to Boise.  This year he still did drama and loved it just as much. We would love him to do other productions, just to see how he likes it, but he isn't sure. He is probably one who is the most excited to move to Boise. One reason, I think he is ready for his own room. He may not admit it, but I know he loves and needs to be around Camden, but he is like how I was as a kid, and he likes his alone time. He is still my sweet boy, just has a LOT of pre-teen sass now. I know Brad and I can be sarcastic and now it is rubbing off onto Beckham. Beckham loves his dogs but keeps asking to get more animals; that is going to be a hard pass. He likes to spend time with his friends and lately, they have been riding their bikes all over town. He is a thinker, he likes to plan for his future, but it changes all of the time. He says actor, Doctor, go to college, not go to college, move away, stay close. I like that he is just thinking about where to go later on. He does really well with school still. Beckham has a love for books like I do. It's fun to read a book and then suggest it to him and then he reads it and likes it. I read "Pet Semetary" and after marking out a few parts, we are letting him read it too. So far he likes it. He now suggests books to me too, which I need to read. It's fun when kids to get an age you can relate to them of different levels, and that is where Beck is at. Sometimes we forget that he isn't 16 and that he did just turn 13. Beckham is obsessed with pops, he gets most excited about collecting them and has a mile long list of the ones he wants. He also loves games, maybe too much. We really have tied to let them govern themselves when it comes to their game time. There are days that he does a good job and others where we have to have a conversation about a better way to spend his time. I think it's because of the space we have right now, but he always seems to be in the same room as us, a good amount of time waiting to play games again. Beckham likes to draw every now and then. He has created his own pop ideas a lot, I hope he keeps drawing and coming up with original ideas like that. We all like to watch Matt Stonie do food challenges and Beckham and Brad always want to try one out. We did a pizza slice eating contest. Beck had 7 Brad had 5 and both regretted it for the rest of the night.  Beckham's favorite subject is math, his favorite food is hamburgers and his favorite toy or game is Mortal Kombat.

Camden has grown so much, but yet not at all. He is a little taller, but really he looks almost the exact same. He has a baby face, which right now he hates, but as he gets older he may actually end up liking. He hates when we go to restaurants and they ask if we need 3 kids and 3 adult menus. He really wants to be an 'adult' menu eater, but he just can't finish it. There is definitely a time I remember where I thought if I could have the adult size meal that means it wasn't a little kid anymore, and I think that is where he is at. He is a homebody. Camden likes to be with his friends and hang out, but once it becomes night he wants to be home. Again, another thing that comes from me, I hated sleepovers and so does Camden.  This year we have learned a lot about him. Going to the neurologist has opened our eyes to look more into what could be causing things with him. For instance, the other day he was set on a sleepover, he said he was going to stay, and then about 6 he started to text me and say he didn't feel well, his stomach hurt like it hurt the week before. When I got him about 2 hours later I talked with him about his stomach and told him to look at what he was really feeling, and was it a stomach ache or was he worried? Once we had talked through it a little bit I think it started to see that maybe it is anxiety about staying away from home and not bad food. We have had to look at things like this all time with Camden. He has to think things through, he is a big thinker. He is a smart kid, sometimes too smart and puts too much pressure on himself. His goal this year was to get all A's, which is good, as long as he doesn't make himself stressed while getting there. Camden and Jackson fight all of the time. Camden doesn't take not being correct 100% of the time well, he doesn't know the words "Oh I didn't know that." When something does happen and he isn't right or gets in trouble in any way, we can guarantee that he will yell at Jacks within minutes of that happening. Then the next day they will play as best friends for hours. Camden is obsessed with card magic. He has a few different decks of cards and knows a lot of really impressive tricks. He will watch 'how to' videos for hours on end trying to learn new tricks. Beckham is usually his tester, which Beckham is getting tired of it I think. Camden has to be near Beckham, he won't admit it, but he really relies on his brother. He was really excited that their school schedules were the same this year. On the other hand, he is more outgoing than Beck is with other kids at school. Camden is the least excited about moving to Boise. He wants to go, but when we joke about going now, he is not happy about it. I do think of all of the kids, the move will be the hardest on him. Camden's favorite subject is science, his favorite food is ham and his favorite toy or game are cards.
This last year has been an interesting growing experience with the boys and I think this next year will be an even bigger one; we are a little scared but excited as well.

Fun Times

Brad's birthday was this past Sunday. We celebrated a week earlier with the kids and so Friday he and I went out and celebrated. Grandma and Grandpa took the kids and dogs on a hike. We are all more than ready for warm weather so we can do more hikes like this. The Falls is one of our favorite places to hike around.

Jackson's class had show and tell and he asked us to bring the dogs in. After making sure it was ok with his teacher we took them in on Friday. He loved showing them off and all of the kids thought they were cute. Eevee and Luna weren't so sure about everyone around but did a good job staying calm.
