Temple Hair and Other Things

The other day while Emery and Jacks were in the bath I was washing their hair and usually I try to spike her hair up with the soap in it. Jacks looked at her this time and said "Hey, you have a temple on your head!"  I guess I can see it.
When I was little it was a fight to get me into a dress and the only day it went a little easier was Sunday because I knew I should wear one to church. Emery is the opposite. It's a fight to get her to not wear a dress or skirt. Since it's getting cooler I have her wear pants more often to school. Thursday she came to me with this on. She knew it was a pants day, but didn't just want to wear pants. When I asked why she was wearing bother she said, "because it's beautiful." Well I can't argue with that, so this is what she wore to school. She has a very interesting sense of fashion
Camden finally lost another tooth, and it left a huge hole. It's been loose for a while and we noticed Tuesday that we could see the other tooth coming through. Brad tried to pull it that night but it didn't work. He let it go till Thursday then he twisted and pulled it out. The one next to it is almost ready to come out, so the gap will be even bigger.

Beck Runs From Zombies

This past weekend there was a zombie run at CSI. It was a fundraiser for a cross country team. We tired to get Camden to do it also, but he didn't want to. Beck was really excited for it from the beginning. You had 3 lives, flags, that the zombies tired to pull off as you ran. Beck tried really hard to save all three.
 Some of the sweet decorations.
The zombies were about every .25-.5 mile. Brad tired to distract them to let Beck go free.
It worked then the zombie started to come after me. Moving and taking pictures doesn't make for very good pictures.
Beck lasted the longest, but still 'died'. Brad had three the longest, then at one of the zombie places his whole back got taken off. Beck lasted 2 more zombies after Brad and I.
It was a 5k and we did it in about 40 min, which I was so happy Beck did it all and did it in that amount of time. He ran his hardest (we did walk some of it too) and had a lot of fun, well, he had fun until he last mile, then we could tell he was done, but he kept going. He wore his race shirt to school today to show it off. After the run we went to rent a movie and Brad let Beck get some Pokemon cards. That made the hard run worth it all. I really hope this get him excited to do other runs with us.

Just Stuff

We were talking in FHE a few weeks ago about trying new things. We told the kids to say things they wanted to try (but not having to do with video games) and we'll all make goals to do them. Camden at first said 'to be the best at games.' He broke the rule so we made him choose again. He acted upset and said the one thing he wants to do I won't let him do. We said whatever tell us. It was piano. On his defense I did say I don't want to teach them, but I never said I didn't want them to learn. So I told him if he really wanted to learn I'd teach him, but it is hard and he has to practice a lot. We've had two lessons so far and he's done well. If he keeps it up we'll tune the piano and get some theory books. I hope he does keep it up, but we'll see. I'll teach him a year but he'll need to get with someone who is better at teaching  soon.
The kids had art night at the school. This is what Emery did to show off. She was embarrassed because she noticed she forgot the n on her name.
The boys were learning about Picasso and they did their self prorate Picasso style. Beck's is the one you can see the eyes better and Cam's is right above him.
Emery will sit on her bed now trying to sound out words. She is so eager to learn to read and she really loves it.
Beck the other night when we were having out before bed talk asked why they call a pistol a pistol. I honestly don't know what one looks like so I said I don't know. He said maybe it's because they don't shoot very far and so you get pissed. I laughed, a lot. I really didn't know what to say to that.

Emery's Night

This past weekend was Emery's last special night for the year. We took her to Disney on Ice again. This year we also took Jacks. It ended up being on the same weekend that I was already going to be in Boise with my mom, so it was all the granddaughters, Grandma, Grandpa, Brad, Jacks and me. Everyone who went had a good time. I know Emery doesn't look happy here, but she really is. Not sure what she was doing.

We got them a souvenir. Emery got a cup again and Jacks got Flounder. As you can see he loves it.
This is how his mouth was most of the show, open and glued.

There were a lot more characters this year. Jacks loved when he saw the T-Rex. Emery loved all the princesses. We defiantly will have to go again next year.

Fun Lessons

So the boys have had a 'fun' week learning a tough lesson. I put this on here mainly because if they ever go back and read this they can hopefully laugh and see that they have grown. Last week we had my mom watch the kids for a little bit and the boys didn't listen that great. They usually are really good, but lately they have been pushing boundaries and acting out, which we are not liking. Them not listening to Grandma was the last straw for us. We told them they lose all games (their one true love) until they can show us they deserve them back. Each day they are supposed to make their bed before school and the last month or so they don't seem to care to do that. They rarely feed the dog, and I don't like the dog, so it was becoming a good excuse to get rid of him. They kept acting kind of entitled with things, which I know Brad and I play a big part in that, but it was time for change. They had to do their normal, everyday chores without being asked and have a good attitude. The first few days weren't bad. We were all pretty busy, so they really didn't think about it. Sunday was the tough day for them. Cam looked sad in sacrament so I passed him a note and asked what was wrong. I wish I had kept it do write it down word for word what he said  (because it was so over the top it was nuts) but I threw it away. He said he was sad he didn't get games even though he cleaned his room once.... yep once to him should have done it. I said it's a while before he gets them and he needs to show us that games isn't all he thinks about and he can have fun without them. He told me he can't be happy without games and they are the only thing he like. Have I ever said how dramatic Camden can be? This went on all sacrament meeting. He wasn't grasping that he needed to show us he can listen to everything we tell him and show us he doesn't just think about games. Good thing it was writing back and forth and you can't read annoyed tones, because I was getting really annoyed. One the flip side, Beck saw we were writing back and forth and he asked what it was about. I said games and he said ok. That's how much this was bugging Beck. How do we have twins SO different? After church we told them again what is expected of them and Cam was in a better mood. Monday after school Cam came home went right to his homework, fed the dog, played the piano (that's another story, once I take a picture), played basketball and was just happy. Beck sat on the couch. Brad was impressed with Camden and game him 30 min of game time. There were things Beck could do and Brad hinted at all of them. It took a while but Beck finally got it and took the trash out, did home work  and played outside and he got 30 min. They now have a list of things they have to do and the know what is expected of them.  They've done pretty well the rest of this week. We told them they never get games back 100%, it's a day by day thing and if they are ever rude to someone watching them again games are gone for a lot longer than this last time. They hated learning there's more to do than video games but I think/hope they'll be better. So will Brad and I. It was a lesson for us as well.

Pumpkins

We painted our pumpkins on Tuesday. Emery did a witch, Beck a dragon, Camden I think is a monster and Jacks' is just some modern art. Grandma Arrington had an extra Halloween decoration which the kids love and make sure we have it on every night.

Our Saturday

This past Saturday we had a fun day with the kids. They keep asking to go swimming, so we finally good them swimming. They need to learn to swim better so it's a little more fun, but they still loved it. At first Jacks was scared for some reason, but he slowly got better and better.
After we went home and got real clothes on we went to Tubsb Berry Farm. It's a pumpkin patch/ hay maze/ petting zoo. The kids loved it. There was a big slide that went pretty fast, which all the kids thought was pretty sweet.

This is probably 1/4 of the maze. It was actually pretty tough but a lot of fun to do with the kids.
We ended up getting seperated from Brad, Jacks and Beck, which Camden took the opportunity to get a picture. It was fun to watch Camden be the navigator.
Jacks loved the petting zoo and didn't have any fear. It's a good this they really only wanted the food and not his hand.

Last was the pumpkin patch. I think this is the first time we have had to buy a pumpkin, we usually just go to Grandpa Barnes garden. The kids loved to pick their own pumpkin out, but it took forever for them to find the perfect one that they each wanted.

To make them last longer we are going to paint them tonight. Hopefully they kids enjoy that. They had a fun time all day and were all really tired by the end of it.
